Instead of going with your usual makeup looks, here’s a quick and fuss-free way to add a tad bit of glam.

When it comes to makeup on a day to day basis, many believe that less is always more. However, we’re going for an edited version of that saying – Less is always more when the right products are used. While using less products may allow us to use that extra 10 minutes to snooze in, products which do not make a statement can take away from our overall look.

So if you’re pining for a glamourous makeup look but don’t have the time or patience, take a go at the simplified rendition. In just 5 steps, you can transform your everyday makeup into a natural look with a tad bit more glam. This is especially useful when you are in a rush or need to draw emphasis to your features.

If you have 10 minutes to spare on days where you wish to look extra special, here is an easy 5 step routine to follow.

MOISTURIZE AWAY

Yes! The secret in any beauty routine is moisturization. Moisturizing not only helps to give your skin that much needed boost of hydration but it helps to create a tacky base for your makeup products to adhere onto. When choosing a moisturizer, always ensure that it has a formula suitable for your skin type. Be it cream, gel or even a water based moisturizer, always rub it well into your skin and finish off with patting motions to set it. This allows the product to settle into your skin better. Less is more especially when you have a beautiful canvas.

USE A LIGHT BASE

The key to achieving a simplified glamour look is that it should look effortless. It is also about embracing your skin. Skip the foundation and opt for a light tinted base as this not only allows your skin to breathe but it also does not hide your natural skin as much. For any spots, blemishes or dark circles, use a concealer. For a look like this, it is not recommended to use foundation all over or apply a second layer of concealer. Instead, dot concealer spots on certain areas and blend away.

SET YOUR CANVAS WITH POWDER

As tinted bases gradually wear off throughout the day, it is important to use a powder to set your makeup. If you need a little more coverage, opt for a pressed power and gently dust it all over your face concentrating on your T-zone.

DEFINE YOUR EYES

Your eyes are the windows to your soul. If sporting a red lip does not make you feel as comfortable, you can choose to define your eyes instead. Start by using a flesh-tone cream eyeshadow on the eyelids. If you prefer to use a powder shadow, pat the colour on instead of dragging it as this gives you the optimal colour pay off. This step also helps to brighten the eyes – especially great for those who did not manage to have too many winks the night before.

After you have applied your shadow, go in with eyeliner. For a day-time glam look, apply eyeliner on the top lashline. This helps to lift the eye to make it appear big and defined. For an evening look, apply liner on the bottom lid and smoke it out a tad bit with a smudge brush. For the adventurous, use a forest green liner in place of a black one to increase the glam factor. Shades such as forest green and shimmery flesh-tone work well together as we have seen on actresses such as Mila Kunis.

ROCK THE BOLD RED LIP

The definition of a bold red lip has changed over the years. We have seen various shades of red vying for the top spot of bold red. It is important to choose a lip shade that compliments your skin tone. For fair skin tones, opt for a red lipstick with cool undertones like a raspberry shade. For medium skin tones, a pinkish red lipstick helps to bring out your features even more. If you are rocking a tan or a slightly deeper skin tone, choose a red lipstick with orange undertones. This will look flattering against the warmth of the skin.

To apply red lipstick, always ensure that your lips are exfoliated and prepped with lip balm. Apply the shade straight out of the bullet or use a lip brush for precise application.

You will not need a glam squad to achieve this easy simplified glamour look. With just a few key products, you’ll be ready to strut your most glamorous pose!
