Dark red, purple or chocolate lips are beautiful but one misstep and you can quickly look like a Gothic. With advice of Laura Mercier, we show you how to master these luscious shades like a pro!

CHOOSE THE right COLOuR

Neither too dark nor too harsh. This season, it’s about chocolate, raspberry or purple tones.

OPT FOR CREAMY TEXTURES

They provide moisture, shine and reflect light, avoid powdery or matte textures as they render the look Gothic.

focus on the LIPS

Play with discretion on the eyes with a bit of brown mascara, less intense than black and just add a bit of blush. A very slight hint of blush pink cheek powder is sufficient to avoid a pale complexion.

more TIPS from LAURA MERCIER

– The skin must be perfect: with dark lips, hide pimples, redness and pigmentation spots very well. Smooth and brighten dark circles not to divert attention from the mouth.

– On the eyes especially avoid smoky eye makeup, strictly speaking keep a very neutral iridescent shade. Brown to very dark lashes can go without eye makeup without neglecting the concealer.
