The pro’s tips for applying lipstick such that it does not move throughout the day.

Dimitri Theer from the Revlon makeup studio shares his tricks with us.

The right product

If you are not used to handling lipsticks, use a lip liner instead. They now exist in both matte and glossy finish, or, alternatively, set it in place with a layer of gloss. Lip pencils are ideal for beginners – there is no need for a lip brush and, in addition, slips and smudges are prevented and corrected much more easily than with lipstick.

The right technique

The technique is to define the shape of your mouth and fill in it with small inward strokes with a lip pencil, before applying the lipstick.

This way, when your lipstick begins to fade in the course of the day, a uniform base, rather than an awkward red outline, is left behind.

The pro’s trick

A classic pencil has a much thicker texture than lipstick, but sometimes does not last very long (especially when the consistency is similar to a matte lipstick). To avoid this, we can use a waterproof pencil, which has excellent hold throughout the day.
