Take a look at our step-by-step guide to keeping your makeup brushes squeaky clean!

How often do you clean your makeup brushes? If you feel at all ashamed to answer this question, or dread to even think about the answer then this article is for you!

Cleaning your makeup brushes is a vital step in your makeup routine. Depending on how much makeup you apply – we suggest cleaning your brushes once every week or two.  I’m sure most ladies will agree with us when we say that makeup brushes are NOT cheap, so cleaning your makeup brushes properly will ensure that your brushes stay intact for a long period of time. However most importantly, we should all wash our brushes because the longer they are left unwashed-the more bacteria they accumulate gets reapplied to our face (causing acne and breakouts). Can anyone say yuck!

Many women think cleaning their makeup brushes is a strenuous, expensive task, but it doesn’t have to be! All you need is a towel and some baby shampoo and you’ll be ready to clean your makeup brushes once and for all (well, at least till next week)

Follow our quick and easy steps to achieving those squeaky-clean makeup brushes:

  1. Assemble all your makeup brushes near a sink
  2. Squirt a small amount of baby shampoo (we recommend Johnson’s baby shampoo) and water onto the palm of your hand.
  3. Work with one brush at a time, gently swirling it in the shampoo.
  4. Run each brush under lukewarm water; use your fingers to gently get all the shampoo out.
  5. Squeeze out excess water from the brush with your nails and lay them on a clean towel.
  6.  Wait at least 10-12 hours for your brushes to dry before using them

And there you have it, a quick and easy way to deep clean your makeup brushes without having to break the bank, and just in time for spring too! So from us to you, Happy Cleaning!
