With expert tips from master perfumer Jean-Michel Duriez - we discover the secret tips and tricks to making sure our perfume lasts all day long

Choosing the right perfume formula

Once you get used to certain fragrances, your nose tends to quickly zap the smell. The solution? Opt for a more permanent formula. Instead of a mist, cologne or eau de toilette - go for an eau de perfum. Also, go for more oriental, natural scents such as patchouli, vanilla and amber. Steer clear of floral and citrus fragrances as these tend to stay on for the least amount of time.

The right method

Contrary to belief, the wrist, back of the knee, ear and other pulse points are not these best places to place your perfume. Instead, spritz your fragrance on the bust area. Also spray your clothes before putting them on. Spray from a distance to prevent stains.

The right actions

In the morning, double up on hair mists, deodorants and shower gels. You can even go for scented gloves and bracelets. Place your perfume of choice into a travel atomiser and bring it with you throughout the day - however, do not exceed two or more sprays at a time. If this doesn't work, opt for solid perfumes that are sure to last all day.

Because perfume molecules are sensitive to oxidation, preserve your bottles by keeping them in the cardboard box packaging. Better yet, keep them in a mini fridge or wine cellar. This will also prolong your products life span.
