It’s the hottest lip colour this season but do you know how to wear orange lipstick? Revlon’s makeup artist Dimitri Theer gives us some tips.

Which hue to choose:

• I have a perfect white skin or tanned skin of European/African mix: Beware of fake orange (which has a hint of pink, for example salmon shade).
• I am a brunette with brown eyes or a redhead (go for  an orange close to your colour as it will highlight its beauty) – or blonde (bold orange gives you more edge to avoid the California ‘Barbie’ look).

AVOID IF:

• You have blotches (orange will highlight skin problems).
• You have very thin lips (they’ll look like they are sucked by the colour) or very full lips (you can apply but not fill the lips entirely – however it is risky because it is difficult to control the effect)
• You are wearing a total orange look (clothes + varnish + lipstick = STOP!)

THE FAUX PAS TO AVOID:

• The matte blush! With the arrival of summer, swap the matte for a cream blush in satin, natural texture and with high transparency.

THE PRO’s advice:

• Put a layer of cream blush on the lips and cheeks and lots of mascara!

WHAT TEXTURE to choose?

• Pencils are great. Playful, ultra easy to apply and no need to debate the size of the brush! The latest? You can choose the texture of your pencil. At Revlon, there are matte (pure colour), stain (long-lasting and shiny colour) and lacquer balms (intense colour) to pick from!

I’m still not sure what to CHOOSE?

• Start with a shiny coral gloss for a natural and build-able intensity – the ultra lightweight texture is perfect for beginners.
