Beauty Review: The Body Shop’s Moisture White Bright Compact Foundation

updated the 14 July 2015 à 18:31

Bid goodbye to thick, unnatural, cakey foundations with The Body Shop’s new compact foundation. We put it to the test.

Foundation does to your skin what a Little Black Dress does to your figure: they smooth, flatter and most importantly conceal all your flaws so you can step out with confidence. Think of it as Photoshop in real life where you can minimise pores, smooth away wrinkles, hide scars and even out your skin tone! What happens if said foundation can also brighten your complexion and give you a radiant look? The stuff of Asian makeup fantasies has become reality with The Body Shop Moisture WhiteTM Bright Compact Foundation.

How it works?

The foundation is enriched with natural active shiso, a remedy used for centuries in Japan, The Body Shop Moisture WhiteTM Bright Compact Foundation is designed to bring multi-dimensional light to your skin resulting in a flawless complexion that looks radiant and three dimensional from every angle.

The brightening effect comes from the great glow-enhancing based diffused with fine mica pearls that makes your skin all creamy and smooth. The new and improved formula SPF25/ PA++ helps  prevent uneven skin tone, reduce existing dark spots and discolouration while absorbing excess shine, even for those with sensitive skin.

How to use it?

There are 3 ways to use the foundation

  • Simply mix the foundation with a highlighter for an overall luminous appearance.
  • Dab the foundation all over your face before adding a highlighter onto the areas where you want specific highlights like your cheekbones, forehead or the bridge of your nose.
  • Use just the foundation as a touch up during the day to cover imperfections and mattify the skin.

Our Verdict

We love that the compact foundation comes with a mini highlighter subset so you can mix your highlighter with your foundation for that perfect colour mix. It makes for a great time saver too as you’re rushing for work and can pat on both foundation and highlighter at the same time. As promised the foundation does have a noticeable whitening effect, so you’re probably going to want to choose a shade that suits your skin tone or you might end up looking like you pulled a Kabuki! The foundation wasn’t cakey and stayed in place throughout the day although it wouldn’t hurt to dab on a little all throughout if you want to keep it looking fresh and in place. We prefer our highlighters to come in pencil or tube form but some people might prefer the powder option. The SPF25/ PA++ also helped protect our skin from the blazing heat.

All in all, this compact foundation will be in our handbags for a long time to come!

The Body Shop Moisture WhiteTM Bright Compact Foundation retails at SGD 39.90 and will be available in 6 different shades from 12 March 2015 onwards.
