Beauty Review: Pond’s Flawless White range

We tried the Ultra Luminous Serum and Lightening Day Cream with SPF 18 PA++. Here’s what we think.

Whitening creams have got a bad rap in recent years for giving millions of naturally dusky damsels false hopes, but they do have their place in your skincare routine – especially if you have been subjecting yourself to some over-enthusiastic sun worshipping.

So while we didn’t believe the Pond’s Flawless White range would change our skin tone (and to be fair, it never claimed to) we did put it to the test for the claims it did make – which was to give us a more even complexion and that elusive lit-from-within glow.

So how did it fare?

FW Ultra Luminous Serum
First up, the Pond’s Flawless White Ultra Luminous Serum.

To be honest, this has to be one of my favourite mass market skin care products that I’ve found on the shelves in recent years.

The texture is incredibly lush and silky and instantly makes your skin feel smoother. I’ve used it diligently for the past two weeks and the results are impressive, purely from a skin conditioning aspect. My skin is naturally dry to normal and the serum may be a tad bit heavy for oilier skin, but it has worked a treat on mine – making it feel plumper, softer and healthier.

As for the promise of a creamier, more even skin tone? I think I am going to have to give it a definite thumbs up. My skin looks brighter and more alive and the tan that has refused to shift for a while has definitely lightened up, taking my skin back to its normal light olive tone.

So the Serum is a definite keeper.

Next up, the Pond’s Flawless White Lightening Day Cream.

Unfortunately, I’m not too keen on the Day Cream.  The texture is strangely chalky and leaves a bit of a white residue on your skin which makes it difficult to wear under makeup. It also feels like it “sits on” the skin rather than sinking in. However, I have been using it in tandem with the Serum and have not had any breakouts or issues with my skin which leads me to believe that the two products together may actually be a good Day-Night combo to stick to.

How the Flawless White range works?

Both products are part of a larger range that incorporates Pond’s GenActiveTM formula that claims to target a specific gene that inhibits melanin production. The formula is meant to adapt to each individual’s specific melanin level – meaning the product won’t make your skin go much lighter than its original tone but it will transform it to a brighter, more radiant version of itself.

Seems like a more realistic claim than the dozens of skin whitening products out there that promise drastic shifts in the shade card… and a claim that’s backed by great results.
