Fragrance review: Marc Jacobs – Honey

updated the 17 August 2015 à 11:26

We put the designer’s latest fragrance to the test – does it smell as sweet as it sounds? Here’s our verdict…

Marc-Jacobs-Honey-Perfume

When you think of honey, immediately words like sweet, golden, enticing and even irresistible come to mind. These verses pretty much describe Marc Jacobs’ new fragrance offering Honey. With base notes of – well, to be expected – honey plus golden vanilla and smooth woods capped off with top notes of pear and juicy mandarin, Honey offers your nose a scrumptious and distinctly feminine scent.

I must admit, as much as I love a drizzle of honey on my toast, the thought of it as a perfume could sound headache-worthy. However, the hints of citrus from orange blossom and woody touch level out the more sugary accents. In fact, it’s this mixing that produces an effect of warmth and energy – in short, Honey is fresh and clearly the cousin of predecessors of Dot and Daisy.

The design of the bottle is playful not unlike the perfume with girly polkdots and stripes completed with two butterflies (I’d rather consider them bees as that would be more appropriate) with bodies made of pearls.

Overall, Honey is bright, sparkling, sunny and surprisingly enduring. It lasts over 5 hours without need of an extra spritz. Is it distinctive and ground breaking to change the face of perfume forever? Perhaps not. But is it classic and alluring? Absolutely. You should try out this youthful, happy and charming EDP for yourself!

Honey, Marc Jacobs (approx. USD106 for 100ml) is available at Marc Jacobs outlets and major department stores.
