For sticky summer time – we try the latest SS14 makeup products from Korean cosmetics brand, Laneige. Here’s our verdict.

Temperatures are only going to keep on rising and that could only mean one thing – it’s going to be a challenge to be out under the sun in a full face of makeup. No one would want to even try!

However, we are fortunate enough to have the brains behind Laneige who came up with a tropically friendly BB Cushion focusing primarily on purifying pores alongside 5 other benefits – pore coverage, semi-matte finish, UV protection (SPF 50+), a soothing after-effect and resistance to perspiration and sebum.

The star of the product, the Pore Purifying Complex, helps to remove toxins around pores and protects the skin against acne and blackheads, creating a smooth canvas for the powder to glide on.

So how did it fare? As a virgin to the cushion variety of BB or foundations, testing this out was quite the exhilarating ride for my emotions – from excitement at first try to sheer zealousness at application. At the first touch of the sleek sponge, it was evident that my mornings will be off to a smooth and fuss free ride. Dispensing the right amount of product onto the sponge was effortless and the coverage proved to be sufficient for day-to-day wear. What was particularly appealing was the staying power, where after an 8-hour day out in the sun, the powder had not moved an inch or ‘melted off’.

Laneige Water Drop Tint

As a complement to my brilliantly done up complexion, a few swipes of the Laneige Water Drop Tint in Hot Pink on my lips was the perfect summer boost, in terms of colour. Although it takes at least 2 coats to get an evenly pigmented finish, the intense colour pay off and staying power is well worth the effort. The absolute alluring feature lies in the ‘wet’ glossy effect where your lips would appear fresh and dewy as though you’ve just emerged – goddess-like – from the pool and it isn’t sticky, as some lip-glosses tend to be.

Available in 10 different shades of reds, pinks and corals, the water drop tints will create some truly irresistible lips for a night out.

With this duo, we reckon our summer vanity bag is sorted!
Laneige BB Cushion [Pore Control] (Approx. USD$47) and Laneige Water Drop Tint (Approx. USD$24) will be available from May 2014 at all Laneige boutiques and counters.
