Singapore based online store, Luxola, makes shopping for foundations and lipsticks a whole lot easier with its interactive virtual makeup studio – time for some exploration!

Online shopping is a huge treat but what still remains to be fine tuned is the ability to virtually test and try products online. Which is why shopping for clothes, shoes or makeup tend to be a risky gamble that a couple of us are just not willing to take.

Well, Luxola reduces the risk and takes us well into the future of online makeup shopping with its interactive virtual makeup studio. Here’s where consumers are able to test out the latest makeup products available on the site and play with different trends.

How to use it:

The process is completely user-friendly. Simply start by uploading a photo of yourself (without makeup on) and begin with finding your ideal skin tone from their range of foundations before moving on – by clicking on the black tabs above – to create a complete look with blusher, eye shadow and lipsticks. The studio even allows you to pick your preferred manner of application. For instance whether you want to line the upper eyelids, lower eyelids or both.

If you stumble along the way or rather need a tad more information on the products, click on ‘Tips to Use’ to learn about application and maintenance. Once you’re completely satisfied with the look, proceed to checkout and await your items in the mail box – easy peasy. You don’t have to purchase the products though, it’s completely up to your fancy.

Our Verdict:

We loved how hassle-free the entire experience was. For us, the trickiest makeup to shop for online is foundation and we’re sure many of you will attest to it as well. However, with this app, we got to test various foundation shades with our skin tone and essentially make a more accurate choice – say goodbye to unused foundation bottles lying around. The one issue we had with the app is the relatively limited range of products but we’ll let that one slide since the app is still at its early stages. We can only hope it’ll get more comprehensive from here on out.

Ideally, the virtual studio is especially useful when shopping for brands that are typically not stocked in any of the physical stores in your area. So, before the technology geniuses find a way to allow us to touch the items we see online by somehow projecting it outside of the screen, we’re sticking to Luxola’s Virtual Makeover Studio to fill our online beauty testing gap.

Now, forgive us as we continue to toy around with the app!
