Say goodbye to blocked lymph nodes, unwanted water retention and poor circulation.

TaraBliss Spa offers treatments that really matter to the overworked woman – treatments that take all that unwelcome daily stress away. Their holistic approach to tackling the pressures of life, coupled with sound advice and effective treatment, make the experience at the spa well worth it. I recently had the opportunity to try their exclusive, recently-launched Méthode Jeanne Piaubert SlimFace Lymphatic Drainage treatment and I have plenty of things to say.

Méthode Jeanne Piaubert

Before I get to the nitty-gritty of my facial experience, I’d love to introduce the French heritage brand Méthode Jeanne Piaubert, from which the treatment was born. TaraBliss Spa has gone to some lengths to team up with MJP, bringing their luxurious spa products, patented techniques, and contemporary knowledge to Singapore. Launched in 1928, MJP very quickly established itself to become the very first institute that embraced modern spa technologies. In fact, they were one of the first pioneers of lymphatic drainage massage techniques!

I was very pleased to be able to experience the benefits of the Méthode Jeanne Piaubert SlimFace Lymphatic Drainage treatment at the hands of veteran specialist Dominique Vargas, who has been honing her much sought-after skill for well over two decades.

The Treatment

Following a very pleasant get-to-know-you session upon my arrival at TaraBliss Spa, I was shown to one of the calming spa rooms to prep for my facial. I was asked to remove my dress and don a simple wrap-around towel – there would be some shoulder and arm massages to come. After lying down on the spa bed and allowing the serene music playing in the background to soothe my senses, the lovely Dominique began preparing her tools of the trade.

The first thing she did was to wrap my hair up in a towel to keep it away from my face, before gently removing traces of makeup and impurities from my eyes and face with a cooling gel. Once cleansed, she commenced the 90-minute detoxifying treatment. For a lymphatic drainage facial, I was half expecting some very intense massage action on every inch of my face and along my neck area, but I was very surprised to find that only very precise and minute pressure was involved. Such a detailed pressure point massage is said to detoxify the skin from deep within, stimulating blood flow and restoring energy to sluggish skin on a cellular level. The gorgeously-scented oil-based concoction smoothed across my face made the gentle massage feel all the more luxurious and enhanced.

From the base of my neck to my chin, and then further up the face to my temples and brows, the continuous facial massage was incredibly pleasant and relaxing – so much so that I found myself drifting in and out of sleep! Towards the last few minutes of this detoxifying massage, Dominique started to work on the back of my neck as well as my shoulders, and eventually along my upper arms, using sweeping strokes and slightly firmer pressure in order to get the blood moving.

How I Felt After

The whole session was indulgent and totally what I needed after a long day at work. Immediately after, I felt like I was on cloud nine and I couldn’t stop smiling. The muscles under my skin felt incredibly relaxed, kind of like I just had the best sleep of my life. Even a few hours down the road, my skin looked refreshed, hydrated and re-energised. The treatment definitely brought some healthy colour to my cheeks.

The very next day, I noticed tauter and more radiant skin, and the bags under my eyes looked much less severe – possibly because the treatment helped to regulate water retention. There was less puffiness and heaviness. Overall, my face felt less sluggish and more “wide-awake” than usual. An odd description, but true!
