Instead of the over-the-top and dark smoky eye look, here’s how to tone down the popular trend to create a subtle finish.

When you’re attempting to create a smoky eye, there’s really no need to go all out and pile on the black eyeshadow or liner – as fashion model, Kang So Young displays with her rendition of the classic look. Now, get your tools prepped by your side and follow our quick guide to recreating this toned-down look within a matter of minutes.

First create a flawless base with a lightweight foundation that gives off a radiant glow. If you’re worried about unwanted fall-off from your eyeshadow then we suggest starting with the eyes first before foundation. That way, it’d be easier to clean up.

Using the Burberry Complete Eye Palette in Smokey Grey, pat the light grey shade onto the whole of your eyelid – without going above the crease. After that, take the darkest shade in the palette and apply it to the outer corners of your eyes and just along the upper eyelash line. Once you’re done, take a fluffy blending brush and blend the edges so that there are no harsh lines. Now use the lightest shade and apply it along the brow bone to serve as a highlighter. You could even apply a tinge of it on the middle of your eyelids as the shade will sparkle in the light.

Complete the smoky eye look with a bold eyeliner that you should use along the entire waterline and 2 coats of your favourite black mascara. Give your cheeks a subtle glow with a light brown bronzer. Lastly finish off with a nude lip by using Burberry’s Lip Velvet in Pink Apricot and you’re all set.

During the celebrations, the key ultimately lies in subtlety, as you prepare to allure guests with those eyes of yours.
