Dramatic eyes and bright pink lips dominated the runway at Chanel’s latest Cruise show in Seoul.

When it comes to Chanel, the backstage beauty looks are just as hotly anticipated as the trends that trot out on the runway. While one of the standout looks from the 2016 cruise show that took place on Monday at Dongadaemun Design Plaza in Seoul were the oversized, Princess Leia-esque ebony hair buns, the other more wearable looks proved to be found on the eyes, lips and face.

Using products from the Hydra Beauty range, makeup artists gave all the models healthy, glowing complexions. Not too pale, not too bronzed, each one looked like they were ready for summer. The natural minimalist nude complexions were a given, seeing that Chanel wanted to give eminence to spring’s favourite trend: pink lips. The look was created by makeup artist Tom Pecheux using Rouge Allure Velvet L’Éclatante N°42 and Le Crayon Levres Fuschia  N°55 with the hues matching the pastel pinks that were seen on the runway. But while the lips were bright and cheery, the nails took on a sombre tone with dark hues to contrast the look.

As for the eyes, it was all about the lashes and brows. Long, rectangular blocks of false lashes enhanced both the upper and lower lash lines for a porcelain doll like effect. Brows took centre stage, being accented with two pencil swipes above and below the hair. Although bold and original, we honestly can’t see ourselves replicating this look for work or the weekend. We can however see ourselves spotting the pink lip trend on a daily basis!
