Whether you like it or not, this brow trend is taking over every girl’s makeup routine. We show you how to perfect it with the right tools and techniques.

You know you’ve seen it: the flawless, dramatic concealer-heavy eyebrow that’s been sweeping Instagram accounts and Pinterest boards everywhere. Originally a drag queen makeup technique, the Fade Brow is surprisingly also flattering on many. It helps to frame the face perfectly and is a good foundation before laying down the rest of the makeup. Following the rule of lightest towards the nose and darkest towards the temples, the Fade Brow can be achieved with practice, and of course with some tips from us!

THE RIGHT TOOLS

Eyebrow products have recently been introduced in all shapes and sizes, with the rise of companies responsible for making every girl’s #browsonfleek (we’re looking at you, Anastasia Beverly Hills). Start by picking a powder that’ll give an overall natural look and a gel or brow pencil if you aim to have your brows in place all day with minimum touch up. Besides formula, don’t forget that the best applicator for this is a dense, angled brush.

OUTLINE, FILL & BLEND

Beginning from the middle of the brow, draw two arches above and below the brows, towards the outer tip. Fill in the spaces and concentrate most of the product on this area. With a spooly, lightly blend the colour toward the inner corner of the brow, towards the bridge of the nose. Alternate between the spooly and angled brush until you achieve the desired fade effect.

CONCEAL & HIGHLIGHT

Use a dense synthetic-bristled brush to apply concealer on the brow bone and above the highest point of your eyebrow. This ensures a clean, crisp arch. Pop some highlighter on the brow bone to lift the eyes and look fresh and awake.

Love it or hate it, the Instagram Fade Brow is here to stay. Try your hand at the dramatic technique and let us know if you’re a fan!
