Marie France invites you backstage to teach you how to create the hairstyle as seen on the Paris Fashion Week runways.

The spectacular city of lights was booming this weekend, and for good reason – Paris Fashion Week!
All the fashionistas may be on high alert and not taking their eyes off the catwalk, but at Marie France, we’re always keeping an eye on the latest beauty trends.

We welcome you backstage of the Alexis Mabille runway show, for a step-by-step Fashion Week hairstyle tutorial with his long-time partner, hairdresser Odile Gilbert.

With a Fall-Winter 2014-2015 collection entitled “Gust of Wind”, it is only natural that Alexi Mabille appealed to the hairstylist to “transcribe all the looks” to capture this particular moment and do it justice with a hairdo full of flexibility and femininity.

“We had to translate the idea of a gale, of movement, so we brainstormed for quite some time on the idea of balancing the hair” Odile Gilbert

Hairstyling

What better than a neo-printed wave in a super healthy material to give the impression of a gust of wind on the tresses?
Odile Gilbert choreographed that podium look, and confides in us the pro tips for his glamorous results.

THE “Neo-Wavy” look

1 – Buffing up the roots

Dampen the roots with L’Oréal Professionnel’s Volume Lift Tecni.ART whilst massaging in the spray foam to give the hair roots a little perk-me-up. Guard the effect of the foam with a blow dryer for an even more impressive lift.

The Pro’s Secret Tip: Lift the roots. It is a necessary manoeuvre to provide volume. My tip? Equipping myself with a brush barely thicker than a comb, to work strand by strand with extreme precision.

2 – Plumping up the volume

Apply L’Oréal Professionnel Tecni.ART Full Volume mousse on the hair to build up the volume, while providing softness and care.

The Pro’s Secret Tip: Beautiful hair is synonymous with fullness and shines. If your hair is too fine, one option is to trim the ends at a gradient, then set a row of toning extensions in the hair. Trust me, it is radical.

3 – Working in the waves

Work the hair with a curling iron, and then soften the curls with large brush strokes to get waves. As a finishing touch, spray a layer of L’Oréal Professionnel Infinium hairspray over the do, which blends seamlessly into the hair thanks to its new lightweight formula.

the Pro’s Secret Tip: To add volume to hair, without encroaching too much on the face space, I always recommend a precise tapering of the hair into spikes. A few grams lighter, the hair will bounce and whirl around much more easily.

The Pro’s tips to revitalise your hair:

Before letting the girls enter the set, I gently fluff up the roots around the neck to give the hairstyle maximum impact. This is also ideal for mid-day, when the hair begins to weigh down.
