Crimson, coral, or burgundy? Chanel makeup artist, Claire Blavet, explains how to pick the right shade!

The right texture
Forget the matte! According to Claire Blavet, "you have to apply something with a little sparkle to look good. Choose a glossy or satin texture and leave the smooth and powdery matte for the winter or evening."

The right color
Go for a touch of orange. In summer, you want a tangy, sunny color. "Choose a slightly orange red or even a hot coral shade," says the Chanel makeup artist, "you can also match it with a varnish of the same color to further spice up your look."

The right application
"I see too many people who try to enlarge the shape of the mouth by drawing the lip-liner over the Cupid's bow. Be subtle", recommends Claire Blavet, "use a sharpened pencil in the shade closest to your lip color and enlarge the shape by up to one millimeter maximum. On the other hand, if you want to minimize very full lips, erase the lipstick on the edges with a concealer and gentle powder. But remember, stay subtle with whatever you do."
