Shalimar is more than just a fragrance, it is a myth, a legend.
Directed by the renowned Bruno Aveillan, the short film "The Legend of Shalimar" tells a true story of love between a Mughal emperor and his beloved wife and lets us all daydream ...
Within six minutes, the film takes us into the most sumptuous of settings: vast deserts, snow-capped mountains, palaces and gardens of a thousand wonder - which turns out to be the Shalimar Gardens that inspired Jacques Guerlain to create the legendary fragrance in 1921.
The story (or the legend ...)
Imagine, in the seventeenth century, in India ... You are the princess Mumtaz Mahal (played by Natalie Vodianova), living in a beautiful palace surrounded by gardens - Shalimar Gardens - which are created for you by your tender lover, the emperor Shah Jahan, to get you away from the chaos of the world.
The entire film revolves around the sensual thoughts of the Emperor towards his princess and the long distances he travels to find her... Once he completed his long journey, they are finally, here together. To further prove his love, he builds the Taj Mahal, one of the seven wonders of the world, and dedicates it to her ...
True story or eternal legend? You believe what you want to believe...
