Following Marilyn Monroe, Chanel reveals its next (living) face of the iconic fragrance, No. 5.

Following in the footsteps of Nicole Kidman, Catherine Deneuve, Brad Pitt and Marilyn Monroe – Chanel has now gone for the fashion world’s obvious muse, Brazilian supermodel, Gisele Bundchen as the new face of the iconic Chanel No. 5. This isn’t Bundchen’s first partnership with the house as she has also been the face of Chanel Beauty last year.

Teaming up with acclaimed director, Baz Luhrmann, who was behind the stunning 2004 campaign video for the scent, starring Nicole Kidman (watch it below); If that was anything to go by, we say Luhrmann is on to amaze the audience with his characteristic glamourous and opulent vision.

The previous campaign featuring Marilyn Monroe and her quote was the rather impressive as well. After Chanel discovered a recording of Monroe’s words detailing her love for the fragrance, all other planning was immediately redundant.
“You know, they ask me questions. Just an example: ‘What do you wear to bed? A pyjama top? The bottoms of the pyjamas? A nightgown?’ So I said: ‘Chanel No.5’”

Chanel has managed to claim allegiance with one of history’s most famed faces and the path could only get better by bringing Luhrmann back on board. It’s about time Chanel got back into the swing of elegance after Brad Pitt’s monologue detailing the power of fragrance bordered on being a yawn fest.

The campaign video is currently being filmed in the Hamptons is set to be released in late 2014.
