The 23 year-old Australian model made history as the first transgender model to be the face of a beauty brand.

It’s been a good week for the transgender community. Just days after Caitlyn Jenner’s ESPN Arthur Ashe award and well-received speech about acceptance, model Anreja Pejic has now made history as the world’s first transgender female model to front a beauty campaign – for Make Up For Ever no less.

After months of teasing on Instagram, the cosmetics company has finally unveiled the full video for the brand’s “Be You” social campaign, where Pejic celebrates individuality and self-expression alongside American actress Jamie Chung.

In the video, Andreja and Jamie are seen pouting for the cameras and working their smize in a number of different Make Up For Ever beauty looks to highlight diversity and the power of makeup to transform anyone’s looks.

“Be unexpected, and be you. I’m the first openly transgender female model to land a cosmetics contract. It means pushing boundaries in a positive way.” Andreja says in a voiceover as she experiments with bold looks like bright orange lips, glitter eye shadow, smoky eyes and two-toned eye shadow.

Pejic’s star has only been on the rise ever since she made her runway debut for Giles during London Fashion Week and despite being the first transgender model to land a spread in Vogue, the 23 year-old still thinks landing the Make Up For Ever campaign was “beyond my dreams and hopes”.

We can’t wait to see what other transgender boundaries Andreja Pejic will be breaking next!
