We take a look at the most prominent hair and beauty trends this season that you can easily recreate.

We’ve rounded up the Resort 2016 fashion trends, so now it’s time to shed some light on the hair and makeup looks that caught our eye. Designers kept things simple this time, muting beauty looks down to highlight the clothes, that varied from vacation-ready to grab-right-now winter wear. That said, we’ve collated some unique looks spotted from the season that you can recreate to freshen up your makeup routine.

BRIGHT POUTS

The resort collections saw many bold, almost-neon coral and red lips that matched the bright hues of the clothes presented. Don’t be afraid to go all out in matching brights for your outfit and makeup this season, but remember to keep the rest of the face fresh and clean to bring all attention to your pouts.

LINE WORK

Eyeliner may have taken a back seat on most presentations but Stella McCartney and Versace were two labels who brought most spotlight on the eyes. The former chose to use the classic black liquid liner alongside a blueish-grey colour lined in different strokes to suit the eye shape of each model, while the latter did an intense, smudgey black line all over the rim. Take your pick on which liner look to opt for the next time you’re out for the night.

IN-YOUR-FACE HAIR

We don’t mean outlandish. Hair was literally in the faces of many models for this round of collections, in ways of blunt bangs, wispy strands and side-swept fringes at 3.1 Phillip Lim, Balenciaga, Temperley London and Wes Gordon. It sure reminds us a lot of our high school days, trying not to get caught by the teachers for our long hair – let’s call it an homage to old-school rebellion.

BARELY-THERE MAKEUP

Otherwise known as the ‘no-makeup’ makeup, a number of flushed and pale faces were in the mix. Brows may have even been bleached in some cases like See by Chloe and the house of Margiela, but we really couldn’t tell. Whatever enhancements (or lack thereof) that could have been made were virtually undetectable, and they obviously wanted it that way. For your own take on the look, get a flawless base with a cream or liquid foundation and have your hand at some light contouring for dimension. Brush your brows through with a tinted brow gel and finish off with a nude lip or balm.

PARTS PARTY

If you’ve been wearing your hair in the same part all your life, its time to make a switch. The nondescript look of deep side and centre parts manage to have dramatic impact when paired with the right clothes, reminding us of normcore all over again. Like a celebration in all things normal, but distinct in the recognition of being ordinary.

WET AND SLICKED

Leaving the house with wet hair can be looked down upon during those morning bus rides for us normal folks, but designers were enjoying the look for their models this season. Thakoon and Rochas may have embraced the look of drenched locks but designers like Acne Studios, Prabal Gurung and Mugler opted for a more wearable, slicked back style. Achieve the same look with a generous helping of pomade or wax right at the roots, combed back to create the effortless style, without looking severe.
