More than a messaging app, LINE has evolved to become a lifestyle brand with fashion collections, plush toys and even a UNICEF campaign.

With their array of cute cartoon stickers and eye catching, customizable user interface, it’s not hard to see why Japan’s LINE app has a record 181 million users and is one of the most popular messaging apps in Asia. LINE, which started off as an app offering free texts and calls has now evolved into a full-fledged social media platform where users can upload profile pictures, play games, update their status, video chat and add new friends based on a special LINE ID. Being a cross platform app has helped it to grow by leaps and bounds as users with iPhones, Androids or Blackberrys are able to download the app.

Having won over many in Asia, LINE app is now looking to establish itself as more than just a messaging app or social media platform. The company wants to be a lifestyle brand encompassing fashion, technology, and even social concerns by partnering with a wide variety of companies that incorporate LINE’s playful characters into the collection.

We’ve rounded up the Japanese app’s most recent and creative collaborations with companies around the world. Who knew a social app could be so life changing!
