Google update app to enable instant translation

Travelling to a new destination? Don’t speak the language? Fret not, Google translate has recently had an upgrade allowing you to instantly translate signs and other printed texts – all you need is a smartphone camera!

Google app update

Whenever we visit a foreign country and don’t speak the language, it can turn into a real nightmare to understand even the simplest things. We don’t always think to pack a pocket dictionary nor have the Wi-Fi to make the best of online translation tools.

Google’s staff probably had this in mind when they decided to update their version of Google’s translate app by adding atechnology designed to instantaneously translate signs and printed text.

To use it, we just have to hover our smartphone camera over the printed text, word or sign to receive an instant on-screen translation, that too without an internet connection.

The app is perfect for quick and simple translations. From now on, restaurant menus on our travels will no longer be a mystery!

The updated Google translate app is available for IOS and Android. Currently, it only covers English, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Russian and Spanish.
