Audio forms of entertainment were always going to take a backseat to visual forms of entertainment. Why settle for one when you can have a double-whammy? But that predicament is fast changing.

2014 was declared the “Golden Age of Podcasts” thanks to the popular 12-episode series podcast Serial which re-examined the 1999 murder case of a Baltimore teenager and inevitably revived the podcast trend which shows no sign of piping down in 2015.

Podcast – which is an amalgamation of the words iPod and broadcast is essentially a short form audio file that you can download and listen to and has been around since 2004. Portable, hands-free and mostly free, we can see why the podcast is making a comeback.

So if you don’t already have a few podcasts on your handheld device, you might just be falling behind the curve. But with so many podcasts out there, how do you figure which ones are worth listening to?
