Interview: Korean illustrator JSK gives his Susu Girls a Singapore twist

updated the 4 December 2016 à 23:10

From working with Gucci’s Creative Director Alessandro Michele to designing a smart watch for UOB Cards, JaeSuk Kim never stops. Marie France Asia has met the South Korean illustrator for an interview dotted with fascinating drawings.

Feminine, vibrant and very chic, the Susu girls are almost as famous as their creator, JaeSuk Kim. Born in Seoul and raised in Sydney, the artist started drawing his chic little characters in 2007 and has come a long way since then. Every day, JSK delights his 136K Instagram followers with enchanting illustrations of the Susu Girls. His alluring designs have caught the eye of influential publications like Vogue Korea and Vogue Australia, as well as  luxury brands including Dolce & Gabbana, Bulgari, Cartier or Chanel, to name just a few.

This time round, the South Korean fashion illustrator has taken his Susu Girls a step further by collaborating with UOB Cards to design a smart watch with G-Shock. While the female version uses the bewitching prints of a Susu Girl’s dress, the male design features an edgy yet manly camouflage print. JaeSuk Kim was in Singapore for the launch of the smart wearables, the perfect occasion for us to ask him to give his Susu Girls a Singaporean twist.
