Chinese New Year: What to expect from the Year of the Monkey?

Marie France Asia: What does the year of the monkey signify?
The Year of the Fire Monkey begins on the Georgian calendar 4th February 2016, which is the “Li Chun” or “Beginning of Spring”.
2016 is the Year of the Fire Monkey. Monkey, being a metal element, with fire sitting on top, is a countering relationship (fire counters metal). This implies another year of disharmony. Expect more conflicts and clashes around the world, especially war, gun shooting, explosions or terrorist attacks will be more intense than ever. As metal symbolizes finance and money, those into speculative stocks, shares and investments will have another shaky year ahead. Don’t put all your eggs into one basket. Be conservative with all investments this year.
MFA: Any specific area that this year is good/ not so good for?
This year, the 5 Yellow Disaster Star is in the Northeast direction. Countries in the Northeast part of the world such as Japan, Korea, Taiwan etc may expect more natural disasters such as earthquakes, landslides and tsunami. The 2 Black Sickness Star is at the center this year. Countries located in the central part of the world such as China etc may expect more sudden illness, disease or unexpected epidemic.
MFA: What should be taken advantage of/ be wary of this year?
As Monkey is a traveling star in the study of Chinese Metaphysics and this year, the fire is “attacking” the metal monkey, it implies that there will be a likelihood of more travel or road accidents this year. For those who drive, take more precautions and drive carefully. For those who travel often, make sure you are covered with adequate insurance.
Metal also represents the respiratory systems. Respiratory related health issues such as cough, cold, flu, bronchitis, pneumonia, tuberculosis may be more prevalent. Take more supplements and vitamins related to these organs and avoid areas of second hand smoke.
For those buying properties, this will be another excellent year as properties prices will continue to go down as interest rates rises.
MFA: Which zodiac animals are compatible with the monkey and how will that affect their year?
The compatible zodiac animals are Rat, Dragon and Snake. Those who belong to these 3 zodiac signs can look forward to a more harmonious year ahead. Rat and Snake will have exceptionally good career and wealth luck this year. Lots of nobleman help with chance of promotions. Dragon, on the other hand, will fair poorer despite the compatibility due to the presence of negative stars. Those born in Dragon year may be subjected to more office politics and backstabbers this year, which in turn may bring obstacles to career. It will be an excellent year for academic pursuits though, so if you are thinking of taking up some form of examination or certifications, this is the right year to do it.
MFA: Any particular signs that will be affected badly this year?
The zodiac that will clash with Monkey will be the Tiger. This year, those born in the year of the Tiger will have to be careful of accidents, injuries or surgeries. Avoid all types of dangerous sports or activities this year. Go for a blood donation to mitigate the above issues. Tiger should also be more conservative and avoid all types of speculative investments this year as it might bring about loss of wealth. Expect more obstacles to their career this year. Health wise, take note of illness related to the large intestine, lungs and gallbladder.
