Sure this festive season is all about feasting and shopping but it’s time to give some of it up for a good cause.

Think you’ve got a heart of gold? Think you’ve got what it takes to pay true homage to the Christmas spirit of giving? Well you can now prove your worth with #GivingTuesdaySG’s return this festive season.

The platform for non-profits in the city to reach out to donors and fundraisers, #GivingTuesday is, according to the organisation, a campaign, created to celebrate a national day of giving at the start of the annual year-end holiday season that celebrates and encourages charitable activities that support non-profit organisations.

This year, in a bid to promote and celebrate the myriad of ways a person can be generous, National Volunteer & Philanthropy Centre (NVPC) has introduced this novel, all-inclusive campaign with two new inclusions – Eat2Give and Give It Up Tuesday, which targets famous F&B outlets, as well as individuals.

How is it all-inclusive? Any organization within any industry can participate and run its own internal or external giving campaigns.

If you’re a food-lover looking for a way to contribute without compromising on delicious festive food, you can opt to participate in the Eat2Give campaign, by eating to your hearts content any (or many) of the seventy-four F&B outlets that have pledged their sales proceeds toward the cause.

Give It Up Tuesday, on the other hand is aimed at individuals willing to give up an unnecessary daily expenditure for donation instead. One such way this campaign is being spearheaded, is by encouraging individuals to give up a fancy restaurant meal, between the 4th and 17th of November and to give up shopping between the 18th of November and the 1st of December. Definitely a tough task, especially for this time of year!

Some of the things to look forward to with this year’s #GivingTuesdaySG’s campaign are flash sales, with proceeds going toward the UN Women Foundation, enjoying delicious food from well-known dining establishments and cafes and knowing that part of your proceeds are going toward a good cause and at the end of it all, making you feel like a better, more noble human being.

So give, give, give away!
