Women in Golf: What to expect at the 2018 HSBC Women’s World Championships

Whether you love golf or are simply up for a swingin’ good time, here’s 5 reasons why you should be at the 2018 HSBC Women’s World Championships this week.

This March, the HSBC Women’s World Championships (HWC) returns for its 2018 edition. Taking place from 1st to 4th March, 63 of the world’s most elite female golfers in the world will pit their skills out at the Sentosa Golf Club.

Of course, besides the stellar world-class golfing, the HWC is also known for its celebration of food and music. Whether you’re a golfing enthusiast or looking for an exciting way to spend the week, here are 5 things you can look forward to during the 2018 HSBC Women’s World Championships:

5 Things to Expect from 2018 HSBC Women’s World Championships:

1. Test your skills against the pros

Fancy testing your skills out against some of the finest players in golf? Putt your skills (pun fully intended) to the test at the Beat The Pros Lounge by Trackman at Driving Range.

How it works: A pro golfer will hit a shot to a target set up at the Beat The Pros Lounge. Throughout the day, spectators can have 3 shots each to try and challenge the pro to hit their shot closer to the target for a chance to win great prizes from the tournament.

You can also put your skills to the test at the Singapore Airlines’ Golf Simulator and a Golf Putting Game courtesy of new Moon. And if you’re looking to fine-tune your swing and technique, GOLFTEC has a Swing Evaluation consultation (at a discounted session too!). The golf instruction experts are also hosting a daily lucky draw for spectators – if you’re feeling lucky.

2. Meet & Greet with Minjee Lee, Australia’s #1 Amateur Golfer

Hosted by retailing footwear ECCO, there will be a Meet & Greet with Minjee Lee, the young Australian professional golfer from Perth who – at just 18 – clinched the title as the #1 amateur golfer in 2014 after winning the Oates Victorian Open. She was also the youngest winner of the WA Amateur Open in 2010.

3. Indulge in a little sportswear retail

If you’re looking to treat yourself to brand new sportswear, check out Under Armour’s exclusive tournament apparel, enjoy a sneak peek at Bridgestone Golf’s latest golf equipment, and ECCO’s newest range of footwear.

4. Yoga & High Performance Training (HPT) Workshops

Under Armour Ambassador and former MTV Asia VJ Denise Keller will be conducting ‘Yoga For Golfers’ yoga sessions over the weekend (3 to 4 March, 8.00AM to 9.15AM). Yoga is often credited as a great way to improve sporting techniques, with golf being no exception, as well as being able to find balance between both your mind and body. If you’re a yoga novice, fret not; the Beginners Yoga Class is suited for all levels (even non-golfers). More information here.

5. Feast, feast and feast

Looking for a breather from all the excitement? Sink your teeth into  the inexhaustible selection of food and beverages available.

The Travelling C.O.W, Singapore’s first ever mobile food truck, will be on hand dishing up its scrumptious and fresh homemade bistro fare (Thursday to Sunday, at the Premier Stage), and The Golden Duck Co. will also be whipping up their famous salted egg yolk snacks at their on-site snack bar (at the HSBC Power Hour Village).

And if you’re looking to cool off from the heat and adrenaline abuzz at the tournament, head to the Beer Gardens for a swig of a refreshing pint of Stella Artois (at the HSBC Power Hour Village and Beat The Pros Lounge), or sip on some fresh coconut juice and soft serve at COCOLOCO (Saturday to Sunday, Beat The Pros Lounge).

There will also be complimentary water at SamDaSoo‘s water booth, and freshly roasted specialty coffee by Coffee Bandit (Saturday to Sunday, HSBC Power Hour Village).
