Whether you’re looking to invoke a slight dose of Singaporean flair or support the local designers, here are some ideas to complete your to-gift list.

Whenever we think of Christmas, our minds tend to conjure up images of an exquisite wintery white locale where snowmans line the streets and without caution you might meet with a snowball whizzing towards you. Essentially, we can thank the legion of movies we watched growing up, all of which repeatedly painted a similar scene.

However, moving across the globe from Hollywood, the setting is not quite similar. Alongside other tropical nations in our corner of the world, Christmas isn’t exactly filled with snowflakes falling on our heads as much as rain pelting down on our umbrellas.

Seeing that we’re different, weather wise, and it other ways, it’d also be way more fun to add a tinge of Singaporean flair in your gifts this year. Skip the usual candles, gingerbread cookie treats or knitted sweaters and instead go local by purchasing a traditional tea set for the tea lovers, a multi-racial Christmas card or an outfit from a Singapore-based designer.

Let’s do it our way and support the local industry as we strike off our Christmas list this season.
