The latest collection by the unisex Manila-based label proves to be one to watch for this summer. Here’s why we love it!

Youthfulness abounds the Summer 2014 collection of Manila-based label Salad Day. Designer Willar Mateo returns to his usual source of inspiration – toy box and childhood memories – for the label’s latest offering entitled Space Babe. The idea of superheroes travelling through space was the particular cue. This is seen in the list of t-shirts, sweaters, shorts and jackets that exudes kinetic energy of fictional characters – space defender, galactic muse, or cosmo fighter.

With its casual and fun vibe, it’s no surprise that this 2-year-old streetwear label is fast gaining popularity among the local fashion-forward youth who don’t mind standing out from the crowd.

Why we love it:

While most of the time, Willar Mateo incorporates his early years’ memories it in his collection, he still manages to keep his design and approach fresh and far from being repetitive.

From the boldly modern sweaters with updated patterns, to the trendsetting pullovers, the collection appears to be an eclectic mix of colours and shapes. We love the exaggerated sleeves, colour-blocking patterns and playful prints which exude the vibrancy of youth. When paired with matching shorts or athletic pants, fashion forward girls and guys are transformed into real-life superheroes ready to have some fun. Other separates display colourful and playful moods; reminiscent of one’s Salad Days.

Salad Day collections are available online.
