Celebrity make-up artist Zing takes a first bash at fashion by teaming up with romantic HK label Moiselle. Here’s a preview of the stunning collection we’ve been waiting for…

If you ask us, nothing beats a great collaboration between a fashion-forward brand and a talented artist who ultimately bring the best out of each other.

That’s why we are very excited about the latest match made in fashion heaven – that is the “ZING & MOISELLE” collaboration.

Hong Kong resident Zing  who is well known in Southeast Asia as a celebrity make-up artist – has teamed up with romantic apparel brand Moiselle to come up with a limited edition collection which got us so excited when we had a sneak peek preview of it.

What to expect:

Moiselle’s immaculate tailoring and fine fabrication remain unchanged and so does the attention to detail that goes into each creation. This can be seen even in the detailed metallic sewing buttons used throughout the collection, which have been created following Zing’s hand drawings.

This limited collection has been named “Debut 80 Fin 90” and it draws inspiration from the most important periods of Zing’s life: the early 1980s and the late 1990s. We can expect glam, black tweed blazers, sheer pleated maxi skirts, crop jackets and – since we’ve seen a body shape top amongst the pieces – let’s go full throttle  and add some bushy 80s eyebrows!

An interesting recurring theme in the collection is the use of slim inside zippers that can be opened to different degrees to unveil a bright colourful voile skirt underneath. This effect is applied to pencil skirts to transform a daytime office garment into a playful and comfortable night time wear, as well as on dresses to improve wearability and comfort.

The highlight:

Amongst a sea of memories rushing in for all of us who were present at the preview and just like Zing – during the 2 decades in question – the piece that caught our attention the most is the Lip Marks scarf (photo).

This piece seems to merge some of the history of the Singapore-born make-up artist with his new found love for fashion design. The silk scarf is the result of Zing collecting lip marks from all of his celebrity guests along the years and rearranging these marks into one final collage, ready to wear.

The scarf, whose colourful tones are reminiscent of – and inspired of – Mark Rothko’s artwork, is a lovely accessory that can be paired with most of the clothing in the collection and quite likely with other outfits in our own wardrobes.

ZING & MOISELLE collection is available at the following stockists.
