Budding designer from Kuala Lumpur has all it takes to be a strong contender in the Asian fashion industry and we tell you why.

Designers have taken a whole new spin to casual and minimalism by incorporating sportswear into the mix this year and Kuala Lumpur-based designer, Cassey Gan, is no different.

For the recent Kuala Lumpur Fashion Week, Cassey Gan was handpicked as one of the few budding designers and debuted her collection to several nods of approval. The newly minted designer, who started her eponymous label last year, is a breath of fresh air in Kuala Lumpur’s largely extravagant fashion scene.

Cassey portrays an eye for asymmetrical cuts and relishes in infusing modern looks with a tinge of sportswear comfort. In a slew of relaxed silhouettes and sleek lines, the collection was a polished take to the casual minimalism trend, with a smidge of edginess thrown into the mix.

While the base colour palette was largely kept to neutral shades, the occasional pops of electric blue and zesty oranges made for a vibrant collection. We especially loved the series of looks that accompanied asymmetrical skirts or bottoms.

The young designer is one to be reckoned with, for during her years in fashion school, her illustrations nimbly found their way right smack into the pages of Italian Vogue. If that isn’t an accomplishment, we’re sure the collection that debuted at KLFW will put further credence to her craft and dexterity in designing.

If this lineup is anything to go by, we can’t wait to see what else Cassey has up her creative sleeves.
