Inspired by her travels, Singapore-based jewellery designer, Yuki Mitsuyasu constructs dainty pieces with a clever twist.

After being bombarded with bigger-than-ever, statement-making jewellery, our necks, ears, arms and fingers sure are yearning for some breathing space. It’s time to take off the weight and adorn yourselves with dainty, angelic-like jewellery that serve to make just as big a statement. They may be small but they pack a mean punch, at least Singapore-based, Yuki Mitsuyasu’s jewellery sure do.

Raised in Singapore,Yuki Mitsuyasu studied jewellery design at Central Saint Martins in London and now crafts jewellery pieces with the primary purpose of telling a story. The sleek, clean and minimal aesthetics are not to be slighted though, for the surprise comes in a clever twist.

Mitsuyasuʼs creations are constructed without clasps, exemplifying the idea that jewellery should be made as a whole, continuous piece. Weaving the clasps into the designs itself, her choice of materials and the manner in which they are moulded are clearly representative of her ingenious, creative talent.

Ultimately, the unadulterated beauty of her timeless pieces do not distract the wearer nor the onlooker and instead lures them into the jewellery’s telling narrative. Proving that her work is laudable enough, Mitsuyasu has picked up accolades such as Best New Product award at the 2008 International Jewellery London show and a silver award in fashion jewellery at The Goldsmiths Craft and Design Awards in London, in 2007.

Constantly inspired by her travels and the circle of life, we can’t wait to see how the young talented designer will continue her elusive yet refreshing tale.
