Looking for a statement bag that has culture and tradition ingrained in it? Then look no further than the Italian label’s latest series of brilliantly artistic bags

Why we love it:

Italy is well known for being a country that’s simply brimming with a fascinating history of art and culture. In the 18th century, young Europeans would go on Grand Tours that are essentially educational trips to learn about art, philosophy and traditions of the country. This formed the basis for Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccioli, creative directors at Valentino, as they conceptualised the latest MIME collection.

Inspired by baroque elements, the collection centers around foulard prints that hearkens of an artistic history. With 5 main prints (Blossom, Leaf, Flower Eyes, Arabesque and Flower Dot), our favourite has to be the leaf print in shades of fiery red and calming green. We especially love the bags that were adorned with these prints as leather patchwork. Essentially each of the leather panels are individually printed and thereafter combined together to form a patchwork of sorts.

Not only is the end result exceptionally striking and bold, it embodies a subtle sense of sophistication, realised in its sleek shape and finishing. Also, don’t the flowers gobsmacked right in the middle resemble eyes that beckon you to marvel at the sheer beauty of the bags? It’s hypnotic for sure and we’re hooked.

Where to buy it:

The Valentino SS15 MIME bags (SGD4540) and other selected pieces are currently available in stores.
