The London shows have proven that the traditional rules of beauty are breaking down.

London fashion week has concluded, leaving us with tons of runway beauty ideas to inspire our everyday looks. The traditional rules of beauty are slowly breaking down on the runways, with dark lips and birght cobalt eyes making their way into spring looks. We round up the top beauty looks that make us giddy with excitement for spring.

Bold Minimalism

Fresh bare skin is still all the rage on the runways. Once a statement on its own, the look is now updated with bold overdrawn lips. This ultra modern chic look can be easily replicated by slightly exaggerating the shape of your lips with a sharp lip liner. Pencil in before applying a bold lip colour of your choice. Apply a light wash of tinted moisturiser to even out skin tone and pull your hair back into a sleek pony or a bun to complete the look.

Whimsical Lashes

Play up your eyes by framing them with a pair of dramatic lashes. Spidery and long, these falsies were not meant to look natural. Bring out your inner Twiggy with a pair of dramatic false lashes. The more obviously fake the better. For a doll-like gaze, apply the whole set and make sure they are fanned out from end to end. If you’re game enough, you can apply another full set of lashes on your lower lash line. Trim lashes shorter and apply on the outer corner of the eye to achieve a sultry cat eye.

Facial Embellishments

Makeup artists used faces as they canvas, sprinkling them with colourful sequins, painting on visuals or even smearing them with charcoal. Adopt this trend by using a light brown brow felt tip pen and add a dash of adorable freckles for a healthy, sunkissed look.

Dual Purpose

The new way to tie your hair back is to include your neck too. Industrial cable ties were used at Christopher Kane to secure models’ hair in place. Mary Katrantzou opted to use a simple black ribbon instead. From the back the loosely tied ribbon looked romantic and whimsical, while maintaining the edgy vibe from the front.

Graphic Liners

The tiniest details make the biggest statement. For a bold yet wearable, almost understated look, use a touch of colourful liner. You can make your eyes really pop using a bright cobalt blue to line the entire rim of your eyes tightly.
