The collection, featuring the mesmerising Lily Rose-Depp as Karl Lagerfeld’s end-of-show bride, makes a bold statement.

Flirty, glittery pastels, the ’80s power suit, high-drawn waists – Karl Lagerfeld’s Chanel Couture Spring 2017 collection epitomises his vision on what a power woman in the 21st century should look like. By now, you’ve probably seen images from the show making its rounds on social media – particularly of Lily-Rose Depp’s stunning debut as the end-of-show bride in a beautiful dusty pink gown. The Spring 2017 show was an absolute visual spectacle and saw a well-heeled audience present at the Grand Palais, such as the likes of Vanessa Paradis, Cecile Cassel, model Liu Wen and more, to applaud the new collection.

It also does seem like Karl Lagerfeld’s Chanel shows are becoming somewhat of a platform for him to espouse his views. Last year, he used a wood set in the show to communicate his environmentalist message and make a statement about the need for sustainability in fashion; this year, after a strongly political 2016 where gender issues came to the vanguard of our consciousness, Lagerfeld decided to share his vision on what a strong woman looks like today. Check out our favourite looks in our gallery above.
