Longines has long been revered for its exceptional watchmaking history so whenever they unveil a new piece, we can’t help but be intrigued. This time, it’s a new edition of their iconic Heritage Diver 1967.

Taking inspiration from a divers watch produced in 1967, it features a pilot watch system, including the notched rotating bezel that has divisions in minutes – making it easy to calculate the length of the dive. The luxury watchmakers have always developed chronographs that would accompany explorers and when those very explorers started going into the depths of the ocean, that’s when divers watches came into being.

This particular model features a completely original design that comes with silver-coloured counters, a black opaline dial and a bordeaux graduated bezel, making it quite the elegant and sleek piece. To ensure it’s suitable for diving, the back and crown of the piece are screwed to ensure water resistance of up to 30 bar. At 42mm diameter, it’s also 2mm larger than the original design.

What makes the watch especially unique is how it’s essentially a piece suitable for divers, aviators and drivers. While the numerals on the outer part of the bezel measure the length of the dive, the inner numerals are for a second time zone and the tachymeter scale around the dial allows for the measurement of speed over a certain distance.

So if you’re looking for a multifunctional chronograph that has a touch of history attached to its design, the Longines Heritage Diver 1967 would be just it.
