It can be hard for some of us to imagine our lives without a Smartphone and other technological devices. Nevertheless, occasionally disconnecting from them could be very beneficial to our well-being and productivity. While some specialists provide advice on disconnecting from technology, others offer experimental solutions to fight our dependence on new technologies.

Trident, the popular sugar-free chewing gum brand, teamed up with the Japanese fashion designer Kunihiko Morinaga to launch Focus Life gear; an experimental fashion collection that would keep technology in its place, allowing people to carry their mobile devices in their pocket without being disturbed by them.

Made from radio frequency shielding fabric and equipped with a secret technology, the pockets of the garment would block all mobile phone signals and frequencies in order to help people remain focused, while offering protection from the radiation emitted.

The conceptual collection features a shield parka, shield dress and shield slacks. Too complicated to be mass-produced for now, the unique pieces are available only in a pop-up exhibition until April 6 in Toronto. Their aim is to start a conversation around how people have become distracted by technology.

While waiting, another efficient alternative to avoid being bothered by our phone could simply be to turn it off (temporarily, of course).
