The Brazilian eco-friendly ‘jelly’ shoe label Melissa launches its latest collection, inspired by the beauty of nature.

In countries throughout Asia, one must-have item is a pair of non-slippery shoes that are utterly rain-friendly – yet of course stylish. For both the tropics and cold climates, shoes that are protective against rain and sleet are ideal – and this is where Melissa shoes comes in.

The Brazilian brand is known for plastic their eco-friendly, recyclable “jelly” shoes, which combine function with avant-garde fashion. In the latest Spring/Summer 2014 collection, “We Are Flowers”, the iconic brand has chosen to reflect nature’s most beautiful flowers through their bold, radiant designs.

With diversity in nature being a key source of inspiration, Melissa designs incorporate such variety in dozens of gorgeous hues this season. From shocking shades of tangerine to subdued midnight blue tones, the collection features a wide array of choices. For this collection, Melissa chose to go for contemporary themes, while continuously drawing influence from the past – everything from modern, technological creations to retro-infused designs.

We especially love the Melissa ‘Petal’ flats (photo, above), which combine simplicity and style with the eye-popping colour of indigo. The collection also features items for younger audiences with their adorable Ultragirl sandals. This collection, which is aimed specifically for children of small ages, displays variations of classic Melissa favorites. Melissa has notably produced four “moods” this season: Hyper Botanic, Techno Kitsch, Urban Bloom, and Flower Lab.

Throughout the collection, flowers are seen in a widecolour palette and each shoe has a distinct floral scent which adds to the fun. Elegance, flamboyance and a bold outlook: everything which can be found in Melissa’s delightful floral-inspired line of shoes.

Melissa shoes are available throughout Asia at the following stockists. Prices range from approx. USD60 to USD200.
