Nature and its many elements adorn the Spring collection of Shanghai Tang

Inspired largely by nature and its beautiful lush exquisiteness, the Shanghai Tang SS14 collection is built on a template of digital prints coupled with flashes of metallics and hues in red, green and turquoise.

Shanghai Tang strayed away from the typical definition of Spring Summer – bright, cheery and oversaturated colours – and instead adopted an invigorating take on spring, where greenery blossoms under light. Divided into four general themes, Precious Gems, Exotic Garden, Digital Nature and Bamboo Forest, they nonetheless meld together as one compelling story on nature’s beauty.

Through Mandarin collared dresses and reworked qipaos (traditional Chinese attire), the collection is a seamless marriage of traditional elements and modern ideals. The luxury Chinese brand has us pining for almost every piece in this collection, for its fine aesthetics and versatile appeal.

Volume is the key focus here or rather the fine balance of volume. Boxy coats, large Dolman sleeves and flared hem skirts were topped off with cigarette pants or pencil skirts. As usual, the brand delivers understated glamour and finesse to a spring summer collection, without excessively downing it in florals or over saturated colours. This is spring/ summer done right, we think.

Shanghai Tang’s Spring Summer 2014 collection will be available from January 2014 at the following outlets
