Recently, we stumbled upon this very encouraging message “Sustainable can be fun, Eco can be colorful!” – and this latest shop is here to prove it.

From now on, we can no longer say that in the country of mass-production (China), nobody cares about the environment, and The Squirrelz, an eco-friendly design shop launched by Bunny Yan and Nico Boulthors in Shanghai, is here to prove it.

The artists of the trendy shop are really involved in environmental matters, as they say, “There’s so much waste, overproduction and defective products out there, especially in China, and so many of those products can be made with those materials–most of which are new,”. Thus, they use their talent to recycle products, they sell recycled products of other companies, but they also collaborate with Chinese companies to give their overstocked or/and defective products a new lease of life.

But that’s not all, the trendy retail shop also teaches the community how to upcycle old products through arts and crafts classes.

There you will find among others jewellery, bags, art pieces, all made from reclaimed materials such as glass, magazines and so on.

It is honestly worth having a look on their website here.

All products can be bought online or at the ECO VILLAGE here in Xuhui District in Shanghai, China.
