Add a pop of colour to a black and white outfit with some pointers from Calvin Klein Collection’s Resort 2016 presentation.

Black, white and yellow – who knew that this colour combo could look so good? This week, Calvin Klein Collection proved just that as the label presented its Resort 2016 line centred around those colours. The bold, horizontal prints in the collection – a collaboration between CK’s designer Francisco Costa and Instagram-scouted artist Alice Lancaster – may still be fresh in our minds, but we decided to keep things refined and athletic for the weekend.

Pair black-on-black effortlessly by making sure the two items are in different fabrics for more dimension. Here we mimicked the designer’s canvas vinyl skirt by incorporating a quilted asymmetrical number with its own buckle belt. Worn high on the waist with a boxy poly blend top tucked in, it creates a modern take on the cinched-waist silhouette. The yellow comes in with a colour-block crossbody bag that’s easy for a day out, while we followed in CK’s footsteps and opted to stay comfortable in a streamlined pair of sports-inspired mesh sneakers.

Go with a bold cat eyeliner look and subdued grey nails to add more edge to the entire look.
