OOTD: Boudoir Chic
Here’s how you can style a slip dress so it doesn’t look like you forgot to get dressed.
Designers like Emilio Pucci and Saint Laurent brought slip dresses back and made them mainstays on the runways this season. It’s not hard to see why they would want to. Slip dresses are not only sexy, they also exude a mysterious air about them.
It can be tricky and intimidating to look just the right amount of provocative when you’re wearing something meant to be worn intimately. The key to working this nostalgic 90s trend without having it look like you stepped out in your pajamas is in layering and accessorising.
For good measure, choose a slip dress that grazes your knees at least. Layer on a long blazer for an outfit that can transition from day to night – opt for a sleeveless blazer for a sleek look. A blazer also adds some contrasting masculinity to the slinky dress. For shoes, slip on a pair of feminine ballet flats to give off an effortless French girl vibe. As for makeup, keep it subtle and neutral with a nude lip. Smouldering boudoir eyes are a must for this look, and it’s also easy to achieve. All you have to do is line your eyes with a dark crayon and smudge it out.
Don’t forget the most essential thing before you head out the door – the confidence to own this look.
