Whether you aim to look like a Greek goddess or a pretty gypsy, no summer is complete without a robe-like maxi dress. Here are our 30 picks for an easy, feminine look.

Sunny days are up ahead, but have you already exhausted all your ideas for the ‘special hot shot’ look?

Ultra-feminine and comfortable to wear, the long robe-like maxi dress is somewhat emblematic of the summer. Here are some tips on how to maximize your summer look:

CREATE CURVES

Whether you’re small in size or busty, remember to emphasize your waist to avoid the ‘tube’ effect, which creates a cup silhouette. Try to add more curves to your frame, or accentuate your waist with a belt. Beware of belts that are too wide or rest on the hips, as that may throw the proportions off balance. In terms of necklines, go for a plunging V-neck, boat neck, halter or strapless style.

THE RIGHT LENGTH

An important detail to note while trying on your dress in the store’s dressing room is the hem of the dress. Steer clear of the floor-sweeping effect and avoid a dress that’s too long. Either shorten the hem, or if you are not at the beach, wear it to an evening event with heels.

SHOES

Even if you don’t have that 1.75m model height, flats should not be avoided and in fact, quite the contrary. An obvious choice would be leather sandals (even better if laced) and as for plastic flip flops, keep them for the pool. You should leave the stiletto heels shelved in favour of wedge sandals or square heels, which are comfortable and chic.

OUTERWEAR

If the style of your dress is extravagant, a denim jacket is a good ally for your day wear. In the evening, a zipped jacket will be perfect for an elegant shift dress.
