Celebrate SG50 in style and stand out in the sea of red and white with our selection of pieces for all the National Day activities.

If you’ve been living under a rock or just haven’t quite kept yourself updated with the times, the nation announced a 4 day-long public holiday weekend earlier this year, in celebration of Singapore’s 50th birthday. From waived public transport fares to half-price attraction tickets and the grandest National Day Parade to take place yet, there’s so much to do over the 7th to 10th August holiday period.

Going out means getting dressed, and what better way to ring in the nation’s jubilee than to dress up for the occasion? We’ll never forget the cheesy red slogan T-Shirts we used to wear as kids, so now it’s time to up the ante in the fashion department!

LEAVE THE T-SHIRT AT HOME

Unless you fancy blending into the crowd, forgo the typical red T-Shirt for National Day. Opt for an equally-comfortable cotton blouse or shirt instead, or be bold in a flowy red or white dress.

WHITE IS HIGHLY ACCENTUATING

If there’s a part of your body you wish to keep hidden, avoid wearing white in the area. As with the logic of contouring and highlighting in makeup, white highlights the area and brings it forward, making it more noticeable than usual. To keep to the red-and-white theme, wear a muted dark red instead, and incorporate white to another area of your outfit. But if you’re dying to show off the results of your squats and glute workouts with that bubble butt in fitted white jeans – we say go for it!

FLAG-COLOUR ACCESSORIES

A full red and white outfit might be a little too bold for you. Don’t fret, because incorporating the colours into your accessories is how you can show off your patriotic side without being too over the top. Sport a pair of bright white sneakers and a matching bag, or a printed red and white scarf or hair accessory like a bandana or headband.

So if you were thinking of avoiding the crowds for the entire weekend, take dressing up as an excuse to get some fresh air and soak up the festive vibes. We’ve got the best red and white picks in our gallery you can consider for a patriotic day out in town (or by the bay).
