Beach towel. Check. Sunscreen lotion. Check. But not sure which swimwear to go for? We’re here to help!

hm_beach_dress_blueWith an all-year summer weather, our beach wardrobe is almost as important as our daily wear in this part of the world.

Whether you’re regularly lazing by the side of a condo pool or hopping for a weekend in Bali, here are some tips to update your swimwear choice and keep you looking fashionable in the sun.

Prints: As it is with clothes, prints are a huge hit with swimwear this season. From geometric monochromes to fresh florals, tribal-inspired and more unusual digital prints – don’t be afraid to make a bold fashion statement at the beach.

Vintage-inspired cuts: Forget the teeny tiny bikinis that do us no favours, and experiment with more modest yet sexy vintage-inspired styles instead. Go for 50s pin up one-pieces, and flattering high-waisted bottoms which are perfect for hiding that belly bulge and giving the illusion of an hour glass shape.

Accessories: Go easy on accessories especially if you’re wearing a printed swimsuit. A couple of bangles are more than enough if you must. Pay attention instead to items such as floppy hats and oversized sunglasses for a chic vibe.

Bright colour: When it comes to swimwear, there is no such thing as ‘too bright’. Experiment with neon shades, bold reds and yellows and mismatch bikini tops and bottoms to set a fun mood especially if you’re on holiday.

Cover ups: From kaftans and kimonos to sarongs and playsuits, there are a lot of styles to choose from! Go for what best complements your swimsuit and remember to keep it laid back and comfortable.
