8 Celebrity brides who didn’t wear a wedding gown on their big day
updated the 26 April 2018 à 19:04With Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s wedding right around the corner, we’re getting a bit of wedding fever. Here are our 8 celebrity brides who bucked the trend of wearing a traditional white dress on their big day.
The minute Solange Knowles stepped out in her Stephane Rolland jumpsuit ensemble on her wedding day, we knew the wedding dress game had officially changed for us.
And we know we’re definitely not alone in this. If anything, the trend of brides (both celebrity and non-celebrity brides included) bucking tradition on wearing a white gown on their special day seems to be growing.
We’re not just talking wearing alternatives to white or a non-traditional wedding dress. Instead, we’ve seen everything from jumpsuits and pantsuits to tuxes and separates.
Only recently, model Emily Ratajkowski got married in a burnt yellow co-ords from Zara and black veiled hat. Fashion darling Olivia Palermo also wore two-piece ensemble by Carolina Herrera: a simple cream cashmere sweater which she paired with a pair of chic tailored shorts and a full tulle skirt overlay.
And mind you, this is not just a millennial fad either. Even classic beauty icons Audrey Hepburn and Marilyn Monroe opted out of a traditional white gown during their ceremonies. For her second time down the aisle, Audrey wore a surprisingly understated Givenchy funnel-necked minidress, which she paired with white ballet flats.
So if you’d like to throw out the rulebook on wearing something traditional (whether that’s a white dress, cheongsam, saree, or kebaya), get inspired from these 8 stunning celebrity brides who still wow-ed on their wedding day – sans white dress and all.
