Shirokuma
Shirokuma is a Japanese dessert café that means 'White Bear'. Their menu features a lot of Matcha dishes, namely Matcha doughnut sundae, swirling Shiratama parfaits, deep fried Oreos with Matcha ice cream and the oozing goodness of Matcha molten lava cakes. Another crowd favourite are the Japanese hot dogs.
The wooden décor is minimalistic and make you feel like you're in a little winter cottage.

SumoBoo!
During the first time at SumoBoo!, it's normal to be confused by the extensive menu. Kakigori is one of the highlights - a cute dish dressed to look like a bear in a bowl. The Japanese cafe also offers shaved ice dishes with an array of toppings from tapioca balls, rice flour balls, nutella, chocolate powder, matcha, and the list goes on.

Cake a Boo
While the bubble tea, red velvet everything and dessert cake trends are considered passé, Cake a Boo proves otherwise. In the middle of the little parlour is a revolving belt usually found in Sushi restaurants. Only this time the conveyer belt circulates miniature cakes! Try ordering their mini red velvet burger with nutella and tell us if it isn't heavenly.

North Pole Cafe
This cute little dessert joint mirrors the delicacies served within. Its entire array of appetizing gelato, waffles and coffee is adorable. Amongst other flavours are Bailey's and Ferrero Rocher gelato. Pictured here is the Smoky Pan, featuring six flavours of ice cream with a side of fruity crunch. The menu is extensive, including the flavourful creamy pot series, followed by fruit loops and oreo ice cream cones.

WooYoo
We've experienced the buzz of K-Pop, K-dramas, K-skincare and cosmetics, but yet to hear about K-dessert. The wait is done. WooYoo is a dessert parlour serving soft ice cream with ingredients they claim to be imported from Korea. The ice creams are made of 100% grass-fed cow's milk and incredibly milky. With each serving, you get to choose from an array of toppings, though honey chips remain the winning option.

It’s hardly a surprise that even with the abundance of restaurants in North Jakarta, cute dessert joints remain the most popular.

No matter how much we stuff ourselves at lunch or dinner, there is always space inherently reserved for desserts. The Pantai Indah Kapuk (PIK) quarter in the north tip of Jakarta, Indonesia, is blessed with plenty cute dessert parlours serving cold, refreshing dishes to fill that space.

With so much competition, the F&B scene in this part of town is serious business. The trend right now revolves around (soft) ice cream so expect their frequent appearance on our guide to dessert parlours in North Jakarta.

Since ‘desserts’ spelled backwards is ‘stressed’, the long queues outside these compact dessert joints can be frustratingly long at peak times and entirely stressful. But these ice creams and cakes are worth the long wait to draw the final curtain after your meal.
