There’s something irresistibly charming about Love Confectionery. Perhaps it’s the quaint name, or maybe it’s the selection of flavoursome pastries up for sale. Either way, Love Confectionery has gathered much love from its patrons over the years. Take a bite of their peanut cake for some old-school goodness, or their pandan cake a fluffy treat that wouldn’t disappoint. We would also recommend the pineapple tarts, but do reserve them beforehand!

Chin Mee Chin Confectionery
Located amongst the colonial-style shophouses of East Coast Road lies Chin Mee Chin Confectionery. Many flock to this store for a hearty breakfast, filling themselves up with kaya slathered over round buns, while others opt for their soft-boiled eggs. But, don’t forget to try their egg tarts and custard cream puff for a taste of absolute deliciousness as well!

Tiong Bahru Galicier Pastry
Bite into the array of delectable goodies they have up for offer, and feel yourself falling in love with Tiong Bahru Galicier Pastry. A simple signboard adorns the storefront, but enter for a world of amazing delicacies that will truly make your stomach rumble. The nonya kuehs here retains the traditional taste while bringing a little twist to spice things up, so don’t forget to grab one (or two, or all of them!) when you’re in the area.

Balmoral Bakery
The red signboard and accompany red brick facade might make Balmoral Bakery seem relatively modern, but they have been providing good bites since 1965. Over the course of 52 years, they have risen in popularity for mouthwatering cakes and pastries that always hit the right spot. Since then, they have kept their traditional methods and incredible taste, keeping their loyal fans incredibly pleased.

Ji Xiang Confectionery
Opened from Monday to Saturday, Ji Xiang Confectionery has won the hearts of many for their brilliant ang ku kueh. Traditionally red, this shop takes the glutinous rice-based treat to a whole new level. Many have credited Ji Xiang for its innovation, leading to the creation of corn, coconut, and yam fillings on this classic dessert. They even have durian up their repertoire, so definitely grab it while it's in season.

L.E. Cafe Confectionery & Pastry
To get one of their baked goodies, always remember to call and book beforehand. After all, this is one of the more popular old-school bakeries around the island. And, even with three outlets existing, their bestselling items get sold out really fast. While their pineapple tarts have been many’s favourites, the unique beancurd tarts has gotten much attention for how the smooth filling complements the crust.

Affordable offerings that do not scrimp on taste and texture, Ng Kim Lee Confectionery has proven itself formidable in the baking scene in Singapore.While, admittedly, they might not look incredibly impressive, a bite will prove you wrong. Their Portuguese egg tart and mini muffins have been the subject of many ravings, but nearly everything else they have up will definitely delight.

Also known as Ghee Long Bakery, the smell of freshly-baked bread characterises this shop. Having been a staple for many living around the area, this place is truly a heartland gem. They work around the clock, producing over 1,400 loaves of bread daily, before shipping them out to many coffee shops around the country. Try going in the early morning for the freshest batch— we promise they wouldn’t disappoint!

For those who have spent their childhood years munching on them, Jie Bakery and Confectionery provides a nostalgic taste that will bring back fond memories of yesteryears. At first glance, there’s nothing particularly impressive about this store. But, their passion and impossibly appetising bread will keep you coming back for more.

Bedok North may be most known for the 85 Fengshan Centre, but you should definitely drop by Lek Lim Nonya Cake Confectionery if you’re in the area. They have started out selling kuehs from their house but started out with their own store in 1979. This Halal-certified confectionery serves up different types of savoury and sweet kuehs, as well as breakfast items and spring rolls, just to name a few!
