With Singapore being such a foodie’s heaven, there’s no denying that we don’t have some absolute favourite local dishes. Here are our picks!

 Wanton noodles

“Wanton noodles, chee cheong fun, chee kueh, carrot cake, satay… the list goes on. I can’t exactly pick a favourite local dish but what I would definitely reach out for when I can’t decide on what to eat is wanton noodles. The expertly charred barbequed pork is delectable.”

Satay

“Who doesn’t love bite-sized BBQ’d meat on a stick? Satay, be it beef, chicken or mutton has to be one of my favourite local dish – I could eat it every week and not tire of it and thankfully, Singapore is full of excellent spots where I can get my satay fix.”

Nasi Lemak

“I can’t get enough of Nasi Lemak. It may be dubbed a breakfast dish, but I’ll have it any time of the day! It’s difficult to go wrong with a good plate of this delicious dish and each component complements the rest. You can’t have the sambal without coconut rice and vice versa. I love mine with a side of chicken and a fried egg, sunny side up. Excuse me while I wipe my drool!“

Fried Carrot Cake

“My favorite local food is Fried Carrot Cake Black with extra chilli. I love to start off the day with this for breakfast and a cup of kopi (coffee), it is also perfect for a late night supper with iced sugar cane juice.“

Sliced/ Fried Fish Soup

“My absolute favourite local food would have to be Sliced/ Fried Fish Soup. You have no idea how much I love my fish soup! I can have it for all 3 meals, every single day and I will never get bored of it, ever. The best fish soup I’ve had has got to the the original Blanco Court’s Fish Soup, now located at Aliwal Street. I’m such a regular that the stall owner would already know my order even before I reach them in the queue. And it’s not even your typical order. I’ll always order ‘Sliced fish soup with rice, add fish, add vegetables and no ikan bilis’ and the lady ALWAYS remembers! There’s just something really comforting about having a hot bowl of fish soup along with fragrant white rice and it’s really my perfect kind of comfort food. What I really love about the fish soup from this stall is that their broth is really tasty, their fish slices are super fresh (no fishy taste at all) and they top their soup with some really awesome deep fried egg batter that just completes the entire dish. Ahhh… so sooo good! Talking about it is making me so hungry right now.”
